Complete and comprehensive £70,000 restoration.
Ford / RS / automotive nostalgia fans form an orderly queue! We happily present to the market this truly exceptional RS2000 Evocation, with a lovely back story and having been carefully and comprehensively restored by its enthusiast custodian.
The MK1 really needs little introduction, a vehicle so ingrained in the minds of car fanatics for a multitude of reasons, it has been a staple of UK car culture for generations as well as having an increasingly loyal following. Finding good examples of these cars are few and far between.
The car started life a 1300L with Olympic Blue as its original supplying colour. The car has 3 registered previous keepers and has covered 62,000 miles from new! Prior to the current keeper - this car was family owned from new. The first owner was a Ford employee and was given a favourable deal to purchase the car. On his passing it was registered to the original keepers wife, before being passed to the daughter. The current custodian rescued it from the families garage just over 5 years ago, and being the correct year and colour for an RS2000, set about a nut and bolt rotisserie restoration project.
A few years later and at a cost of nearly £70,000 (yes, you read that correctly, £70,000!) the project was complete. A dream build for a die hard Ford enthusiast was brought to fruition.
We are in possession of a full photo diary of the restoration which is available on request. As you can appreciate the build specification is vast, but includes the following

CONDITION SUMMARY
The overall condition of this vehicle is truly stunning, it has covered very few miles / outings since its very comprehensive restoration, however there are some very small areas that could be improved. The car did suffer a small scuff at the rear, as well some some very small imperfections / chips and a tiny crack at the rear by the bumper. The chrome bumpers, although new at restoration have some minor early wear signs and would benefit from a polish, the rest of the chrome has pitting (although is completely original). The vendor has stated he will get these bits addressed the best he can, but saying this, these are very very minor and overall this is a beautiful restoration inside out and upside down. Condition is always subjective and we urge people to conduct their own inspection to satisfy their expectations.
GENERAL SUMMARY
This 1974 MK1 Escort RS2000 evocation is an extremely interesting proposition for RS owners and collectors. It can be argued that it’s not an original car? Well, yes, that’s an obvious conclusion, however, when you take into consideration it’s the correct year and colour for an RS2000 project, a genuine 1 family owned VERY low mileage car and has undergone an intensive restoration at excessive cost to create a vehicle that looks and drives better than most genuine cars that would be almost double the price point (to this standard and originality) this really is a car that cannot be overlooked.
